The Superstition Mountain Museum’s Western Cowboy Day will celebrate local history, cowboy lifestyle, Apacheland Movie Ranch and Native American culture on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This event is free for the whole family and promises to be a rootin’ tootin’ good time.

This region was favored in the 50s and 60s as a backdrop for many TV and movie westerns. Apache Junction and Gold Canyon played host to “cowboy” legends like Ronald Reagan, John Wayne and Audie Murphy, but also was home to real-life cowboys like Superstition Mountain Historical Society founder Tom Kollenborn and Oscar-winner Ben Johnson.

Many of the original western movie actors are gone, but the legends and stories they created live on at the Museum.

The Superstition Mountain Renegades will be on hand to delight audiences with their special brand of entertainment. Humor and creative sketches are sure to end up with some gun play and cowboy-style consequences. It’s all presented in good fun and they’re a very popular attraction.

We’ll have some cowboy poets, show some classic Westerns and hear great live music as well.

You can make a whole day of this event because there will be food trucks to provide a meal when hunger strikes and plenty of exhibits to feed your Old West curiosity.
